AQUA is the brainchild of Lucas Maes, one of Tenerife's most celebrated chefs. After 3 years' study and 12 years working in Michelin Star restaurants abroad, Lucas returned home to Tenerife to express his creativity through the rich choice of ingredients available on Tenerife and around its shores. With just ten tables available for evening dining, AQUA is very intimate and romantic restaurant, its awe-inspiring views over the Ocean and La Gomera completing the experience. This is a place to come for that special occasion – a date night, a birthday, an anniversary, or simply to celebrate life, love and food.
AQUA is the brainchild of Tenerife's celebrated chef, Lucas Maes who owns and operates two restaurants on the island, each with its own distinctive style, underpinned by Lucas's unique personality.

Originally from Belgium, Lucas grew up in Tenerife, where he developed his passion for creating flavour combinations and visual styles in dishes made built around local ingredients. After 3 years' study and 12 years working in Michelin star restaurants abroad, including Scholteshof restaurant in Belgium, Lucas returned to the Canary islands. In his restaurants he expresses his creativity, using the many exquisite fresh ingredients to be found in the mountains, fields, shores and ocean of the Canary islands.

After an evening at AQUA you will understand why Lucas has won so much acclaim, including the Best Foreign Chef award in 2004.

Slow-cooked Atlantic cod, light butter sauce,
capers and white asparagus

Grilled fillet steak, seasonal baby vegetables,
glazed potatoes and Cabrales cheese sauce

Slow-cooked suckling pig (16 hours at 70 °C),

We ate here on our last night and we have to say that this was an amazing experience. The views out to sea just added to the special occasion. The service provided by the waiters was first class and nothing was too much trouble.

The food itself was extremely well presented and very tasty. One tip- no need to order starters as you get a lovely selection of breads and dips and an aperitif before the main course arrives. We did order desserts and after our dessert came a complimentary taster cake. All the food was first class.

Amazing food
As we were staying in the Royal Sun Resort and it was our wedding anniversary while there, we opted to have a meal here to celebrate. We're so glad we did.

We had a meal here with our two daughters and they were spoiled rotten by the staff, particularly Vincente who looked after us so well for the night.

The menu and our options were explained to us clearly and we opted for the a la carte option but we were extremely tempted by the tasting menu, however with the kids in tow, it hardly seemed fair to them to see plate after plate come out for us!

Made our holiday
Our experience at the Aqua was delightful to celebrate a special birthday. The staff were attentive from the start, even apologising for not being able to put our table on the balcony due to the high winds!

Our inside table still had commanding views of the Atlantic and tables are well spaced you don't even notice other diners. We opted for the tasting menu, which was absolutely delicious. Every course explained by knowledgeable attentive staff.

From the speciality breads to the crayfish, tuna, veal, and culminating in a raspberry desert, the whole meal was a delight.
